Kem is a first-year Information PhD student advised by Dr. Ai in the Computational Linguistics & Information Processing (CLIP) Lab at UMD. Prior to Maryland, she completed a BS in Computer Science and a BA in Quantitative Economics with a Mathematics minor at Providence College, and opted for a thesis studying equity and the economics of education. She hopes to promote interdisciplinary collaborations among scholars in computer and information sciences, linguistics, economics, and education through working at the boundaries of these scholarly communities.
